Italian Walks 2014

What a fantastic turnout we had at the Italian Walks 2014.  The procession took in the streets of Ancoats and on into the City Centre.  It started on George Leigh Street, in Little Italy, a part of Ancoats where a lot of Italian immigrants moved in the 1800s. It then passed along Newton Street, Lever Street, Swan Street, Rochdale Road, Thompson Street before heading back to St Michael’s Church on George Leigh Street. The procession was headed by men from the local Italian community, carrying a statue of the Madonna adorned with white lilies.
